TONEELSCHUUR PRODUCTIES - JONGENSUREN

The play Jongensuren pays homage to Dutch author Andreas Burnier, a pioneering queer icon whose works on identity and sexuality were ahead of her time. Burnier, active in the 1960s, explored themes of freedom and nonconformity as a young Jewish lesbian in a post-war society that condemned "deviations." Her bold and controversial writing remains relevant today, embodying the spirit of rebellion and challenging societal norms. This theatrical adaptation captures the era's double standards and Burnier's longing for an authentic life beyond societal constraints.
